Description:
The Software Release/Configuration Engineer directs high quality product delivery to the production, staging and QA environments through consistently reproducible processes that mitigate risks and provide solution-based deliverables in a timely fashion. This is accomplished by working with and coordinating activities across various groups, including: management, production staff, software developers, database administrators, and quality assurance engineers.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and deploy new standards, policies and practices that will enable higher quality product deliverables.
- Review and potentially refine the current continuous integration build process.
- Maintain software baselines and ensure all artifacts are properly placed under configuration management.
- Establishes procedures and implements the introduction of approved software from development to release.
- Manages the coordination and transfer of software and configuration settings from development, through testing, and into multiple production environments.
- Proactively identifies configuration issues and works with leadership to determine solutions.
- Coordinates with the Software Development and QA team in order to control the transition of deliverables throughout the software development life cycle.
- Ability to audit software and environmental changes.
- Configuration of new QA staging environments.
- Requires strong writing skills and an attention to details.

Job Qualifications:
- B Tech in computer science or related field.
- 2+ years in a Software Configuration Management or Release Management role
- 2+ years working in a production software environment with strong documentation skills and a proven ability to drive solutions from beginning to end with minimal supervision.
- Ability to build the code/scripting/packages necessary to automate the deployment process.
- Knowledge of Software Development lifecycle and project management methodologies required.
- Knowledge of Software Quality Assurance processes, including organization and methods.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be customer focused, demonstrate high initiative, and perform effectively in a team environment.
- Proficient in UNIX (Solaris) and Shell Scripting.
- Experience with software configuration tools (CVS, Subversion)
