National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT), Chennai, a technical arm of the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Govt. of India, is functioning with the broad objective of promoting technology development in various mission mode objective activities related to Ocean Engineering and Ocean Resource utilization. The Institute has taken up various research projects in the area of Ocean Energy & Fresh Water, Deep Sea Technologies & Ocean Mining, Coastal & Environmental Engineering, Ocean Observation Systems, Submersibles & Gas Hydrates, Marine Sensors & Electronics and Ocean Science & Technology for Islands.
In order to carry out the research and development activities of the projects, the Institute is looking for a Scientist-F (Mechanical / Naval Architecture / relevant branch) on deputation basis followed, if necessary, by permanent absorption at the discretion of Competent Authority. Applications are invited from the interested and eligible Indian Nationals in the prescribed format duly forwarded through proper channel along with testimonials and certified copies of APAR for the last FIVE years.

Age: Not exceeding 56 years
Essential Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Naval Architecture / relevant branch of Engineering or equivalent from a recognized university/Institute with at least first class (not less than 60% marks) with Five years regular service in PB-4 Rs. 37400 – 67000 + G.P. 8700 or with eight years regular service in PB-3 Rs. 15600– 39100 + G.P. 7600.
Desirable :
Master’s degree in Engineering / Technology or Ph.D. in the relevant field.
Job Requirement:
- Lead a team of Engineers in multidisciplinary projects in the area of Ocean Engineering and Technology.
- Project Management – Technical and Financial
The deputation will be initially for a period of 2 years and extendable by one more year. The pay and
allowances etc. will be governed as per O.M. No. 6/8/2009-Estt (Pay II) dt. 17.6.2010 of Ministry of
Personnel Public Grievances & Pension (Department of Personnel & Training), New Delhi.
