Position Title: Network Operations Engineer

Location: Kalamazoo, MI(US)

The primary responsibility of the Network Operations Engineer is to be part of a team that provides provide 24 x 7 operational support for Topsy's mission critical large scale Infrastructure and application stack. The team monitors and troubleshoots technical issues. Topsy NOC team is looking for a strong technical support engineer. Successful candidate will have knowledge of Unix / Linux systems management and handling large scale online environments, be able to quickly assess, analyze, and resolve site incidents in a fast paced environment, excellent verbal and written communication skills to be able to interact effectively with engineering and other operations teams.  The position will require rotating day, night and weekend shifts.

Qualifications and Required skills:

• Experience managing Linux systems in a 24/7 production environment
• Experience with Apache, MySQL, DNS
• Knowledge of TCP/IP networking
• Ability to script in Python, Perl, Ruby or PHP
• Excellent technical writing skills and ability to maintain operations documentation
• Excellent verbal communication and ability describe complex technical concepts
• Excellent critical problems solving and ability to understand complex and follow technical procedures

Bonus Points:

• Knowledge of C/C++, Java and SQL
• Experience with Amazon Web Services
• Knowledge of Cisco IOS
